Yesterday, Rotaract Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf welcomed the District Rotaract Representative (DRR), Rtr. Beatha Malaurifor an engaging visit that went beyond reviewing club performance. It was an opportunity to celebrate progress, have honest conversations about growth, and challenge the club to think bigger about the impact it wants to create.
With 64 members, the club stands as one of
the largest community-based Rotaract club in the district. Yet, as DRR highlighted, growth is not measured by membership numbers alone. It is equally reflected in how well a club retains its members, develops its leaders, builds meaningful partnerships, and creates opportunities for people to thrive.
The DRR commended the club for its growing visibility, recognising the consistency of its digital presence and the work being done to tell the Golfers’ story. From social media engagement to community initiatives, the club continues to demonstrate what happens when service and storytelling work hand in hand. The challenge, however, was to go a step further: to tell more stories of personal transformation, highlight members’ experiences, and showcase the impact of the club beyond its golf engagements.
The conversation also turned to partnerships and community impact. With existing corporate partnerships, an application for a district grant, and the adoption of Wisdom Hub Inclusive Primary School in Mpigi as a signature project, the club has promising opportunities to deepen its footprint.
The 7Lakes Eco Green project which the club intends to execute also stood out as an initiative with the potential to make a lasting difference in the communities around us through promoting environmental conservation one of the key areas of focus in Rotary.
Beyond projects and visibility, the DRR encouraged members to embrace the wider opportunities within Rotary. Supporting district initiatives, visiting other clubs, participating in district events, and contributing to The Rotary Foundation were highlighted as important parts of building a stronger club and a stronger district. Members were also challenged to support the upcoming district conference, recognising that showing up for one another is part of what makes Rotaract a family.
One of the most powerful moments of the visit was the call for every board member to reflect on the legacy they hope to leave by 30 June 2027. Beyond the titles we hold, what skills will we have developed? What opportunities will we have pursued? What difference will our leadership have made? The message was clear: Rotaract should not only be a place where we serve others, but also a space where we grow, discover our strengths, and become more intentional about our futures.
The fellowship marked an important moment for membership growth, with nine guests officially inducted into the RotaractClub of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf. Their induction added to the club’s growing membership and reflected its continued efforts to attract young people who are eager to develop their leadership skills, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to community service. The new members join the Golfers at a time when the club is strengthening its focus on member development, visibility, and sustainable impact.
The visit also offered a moment of encouragement for the club's leadership, with appreciation for President Trevor's commitment and presence.
It was a reminder that leadership requires resilience, but that the strength of a club lies in the collective commitment of its members.
As the visit drew to a close, the message to the Golfers was both affirming and challenging,
“ We have built a strong foundation, but there is still more we can do. We must continue to raise our standards, nurture our members, strengthen our partnerships, and turn our ambitions into measurable impact” said the DRR.
The Golfers also reaffirmed their commitment to Rotary’s work by pledging US$2,000 to The Rotary Foundation, with US$1,000 going to the Annual Fund and US$1,000 to PolioPlus. The club presented a dummy cheque worth US$2,000 to symbolise this pledge and its commitment to supporting the two causes. The moment also provided an opportunity to warmly appreciate DRR Beatha Malauri for taking the time to visit the club, share her insights, and encourage the Golfers to keep growing and doing more. Her visit was a valuable reminder of the importance of leadership, giving, and working together to strengthen the wider Rotaract family.
As Rotaract Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf continues its journey, yesterday's visit serves as a reminder that being a premium club is not simply about the name we carry, but the value we create, the people we develop, and the legacy we leave behind.
The work continues. The ambition remains. And the Golfers are ready to keep growing, serving, and making an impact.
